To find customers who viewed specific products or product categories, use the product view and category view filters. These filters let you segment customers by browsing behavior so you can follow up with relevant promotions, restock alerts, or price-drop notifications. Each view is stored as an action on the customer card, along with the context captured at the moment of the view: the product or category, its price and availability at that time, the action template, the point of contact (website, mobile app, etc.), and the timestamp.
Price and availability are recorded as they were at the moment of the view. They do not update later, even if the product’s current price or stock changes. This is what lets you target customers whose viewed product has since gone on sale or come back in stock.
To get started, go to Data → Customers.

Filtering by product views

The product view filter selects customers based on individual product page views. You can narrow the filter by any combination of product attributes, the price and availability recorded at view time, the action template, the point of contact, and the date of the view.

Task 1. Find customers who viewed promotional products over $50 in the last month

Use this filter to reach customers who showed interest in higher-ticket promo items so you can send them a targeted offer.
  1. Add the Product View condition.
  2. Restrict the product set to items in your promo catalog (for example, products tagged as “On Promotion” or belonging to a promo category).
  3. Set the Price at the moment of view to greater than $50.
  4. Set Availability at the moment of view to “Available.”
  5. Set the Date range to the last month.
The resulting segment contains every customer who, in the last 30 days, viewed an in-stock promo product priced above $50.

Task 2. Find customers who viewed a product that has since dropped in price

Because price at the moment of view is stored on the action, you can compare it against the product’s current price.
  1. Add the Product View condition.
  2. Set Price at the moment of view to greater than the product’s current price.
  3. Set Availability at the moment of view to “Available.”
  4. Set the Date range to a window that makes sense for your category (for example, the last 14 days).
This is the foundation for a “price dropped on a viewed product” campaign.

Task 3. Find customers who viewed a product that is now back in stock

  1. Add the Product View condition.
  2. Set Availability at the moment of view to “Out of stock.”
  3. Add a second condition that the product is currently “Available.”
  4. Set the Date range to a recent window (for example, the last 30 days).
This selects customers who tried to view a product when it was unavailable and can now be notified that it has returned.

Task 4. Find customers who viewed a specific product on a specific channel

If you want to act only on customers who viewed a product on a particular surface — say, your mobile app — add a Point of contact condition and choose the channel. You can do the same with the Action template if you want to scope the segment to views that came from a specific tracking template.

Filtering by category views

Category views are tracked as a separate action, not as a roll-up of product views inside the category. A category view is recorded when the customer opens the category page itself. Filter parameters include the category, the point of contact, and the date.

Task 1. Find customers who viewed the “Outerwear” category in the last two weeks

Use this filter to announce a new arrival or seasonal drop to customers who have shown interest in that part of your catalog.
  1. Add the Category View condition.
  2. Select the Outerwear category.
  3. Set the Date range to the last two weeks.

Task 2. Find customers who viewed any category on the mobile app yesterday

  1. Add the Category View condition.
  2. Leave the category open so any category qualifies.
  3. Set the Point of contact to your mobile app.
  4. Set the Date to yesterday.

Combining product and category views

To find customers who are broadly interested in a category — either through the category page itself or through individual products within it — combine both conditions in a single filter joined with “OR.”

Task. Find customers interested in the “Accessories” category in the last month

  1. Add a Category View condition for the Accessories category, scoped to the last month.
  2. Add a Product View condition for products in the Accessories category, scoped to the last month.
  3. Join the two conditions with OR.
The resulting segment contains every customer who either opened the category page or viewed an individual accessory in the last month.
If you plan to use this segment as a flow trigger or as the audience for a recurring campaign, save it as a named segment so you can reuse it across campaigns without rebuilding the filter each time.
