Average order value is the total value of purchases divided by the number of orders.
Use case: find customers with an average order value between $1,000 and $5,000 over the last year.
1. Go to Customer Data Platform → Customers.
2. Set up the filter.
How average order value is calculated
Average order value is calculated based on placed, paid, and delivered items.
Even if an order was fully canceled, it still counts toward the total number of orders.
Example:
A customer has three orders:
Order 1: one table $1,500 — placed
Order 2:
line 1: two chairs $500 each — paid
line 2: one stool $300 — canceled
Order 3: one pouf $1,000 — returned
Total: $1,500 + $500×2 = $2,500
Number of orders: 3
Average order value: $833
