A touchpoint is the way you reach the customer — sometimes the place the action happened — through which the action takes place. A website, a store, or a social network, for example. Touchpoints can be grouped, or classified, using channels. For more on those, see how to add and how to import channels. You can add touchpoints one at a time through the interface, following this article, or import them in bulk from a CSV file.

How to add a touchpoint through the interface

1

Go to Settings → Customers and actions → Touchpoints

2

Click Add

3

Fill in the fields

  • Name — the name you’ll use to find the touchpoint in filters.
  • System name — how the touchpoint is stored in the account’s database.
  • External ID — how the touchpoint is passed in operation calls, imports, and services.
  • System touchpoint — marks the touchpoint as undeletable.
  • Channel — matters for search and reports, so pick one that fits your setup.
  • Used for — reference information for you, so it’s clear what the touchpoint was created for.
