To change the properties of an email address or phone number, edit the customer’s contact through an integration point configured with the settings you need. You have two options.
  • Edit a customer through an operation. Use this when you need to update specific customers one at a time. For example, a customer was previously a subscriber on one website where contact confirmation wasn’t required. When they enter their email in their account on another website that does require email confirmation, an edit operation is called through an integration point with email confirmation enabled. After that, the contact can confirm the address.
  • Edit customers through a file import. Works for a single customer or for a large batch. This is the preferred option when you need to change contact settings for a large share of your customers.

Example 1

You’re launching an omnichannel loyalty program. Until now, Maestra collected information about customer actions and orders, and account access and contact confirmation weren’t required. Once the loyalty program launches, customers can earn and spend points by buying in stores and on the website. For security, you turn on account access and contact confirmation. For every customer registered on the website, run a bulk edit of phone numbers and emails through an integration point that has account access and contact confirmation enabled. After the edit through the integration point, the contacts will have the properties defined in the integration point settings.

Example 2

After launching the loyalty program on the website, you need to mark phone numbers with the “Gives account access” flag for every customer who registered on the site.
1

Export the customers

Export to a file every customer who has a phone number and a WebsiteID identifier (issued at site registration). The export only needs the WebsiteID and phone fields.
2

Run the bulk edit

Load the file into a bulk customer edit operation. In the settings, point to an integration point where “Gives account access” is enabled for the phone number. After the operation completes, every phone number on the selected customers will have the “Gives account access” flag.
