By default, the Maestra Editor uses web-safe fonts — universally supported across browsers, devices, and email clients. If your email design uses custom or branded fonts, you can upload them in the Maestra Editor.
Note: Custom fonts are not supported by all email clients.

Supported formats

The Maestra Editor supports the following font formats:
  • .woff
  • .woff2
If your file is in another format (such as .ttf or .otf), convert it using an online tool such as CloudConvert.

How to upload a custom font

  1. Open the Maestra Editor.
  2. Select any text block.
In the font dropdown list, click Add custom. ​
  1. In the upload window, specify:
  • a unique font name
  • the font file in .woff or .woff2 format
  • font weight
  • font style
  1. Click the Add button.
After uploading, the custom font appears in the font list and is available for all blocks in the Maestra Editor.

Font weights and styles

For each uploaded font file, you can assign one weight:
  • Regular
  • Bold
and one style:
  • Normal
  • Italic

Non‑standard font weights

If your font uses other weights or styles (such as Light, Medium, Semibold, etc.), each weight must be uploaded as a separate font file with a unique name. How to upload a font with a non‑standard weight:
  1. Name the font using the format [Font Name] + [Weight] (for example, Ubuntu Light).
  2. Upload the font file.
  3. Set:
  • Weight – Regular
  • Style – Normal
This ensures the font displays with the correct visual weight when selected in the Maestra Editor without additional settings.

Custom Font Support Across Email Clients

Not all email clients support custom fonts — when they don’t, your email should fall back to a web-safe font instead.
Supported email clients:
  • Apple Mail (iOS, macOS)
  • Outlook for macOS
  • Thunderbird
  • Android Mail (excluding Gmail)
Most other email clients do not support custom fonts, including:
  • Gmail (except Roboto / Google Sans)
  • Outlook.com / Outlook for Windows
  • Yahoo! Mail

Fallback fonts

To ensure your email displays correctly in email clients that don’t support custom fonts, specify a fallback font that closely matches your custom font. How fallback fonts work:
  • In supported email clients, the custom font is used.
  • In other clients, the fallback font is used.
  • Layout and readability are preserved.
Recommendations:
  • Always specify a fallback font.
  • Test a preview email in popular email clients before sending your campaign.
